Background

The Membership Marketing Manager will join a new management team at Arsenal on an ambitious journey. Ivan Gazidis joined as Chief Executive Officer in January 2009 from his position as Deputy Commissioner for Major League Soccer in the USA. Ivan’s ambition is to turn Arsenal into one of the leading sporting organizations in the world and he has recently hired a number of senior executives including - new General Counsel, Svenja Geissmar.
The role
Arsenal is seeking to appoint a Membership Marketing Manager to report into the Head of Marketing (who in addition to marketing also has responsibility for Youth Fan Development, Corporate Marketing, CRM Development and Stadium Tours Operations). The Membership Marketing Manager will be responsible for implementing the Club’s membership scheme to retain and monetise supporters, in order to maximise revenue and profitability, whilst simultaneously owning and developing the relationship with supporters.
Membership Marketing Manager : Key Responsibilities
- Drive membership development strategy with key stakeholders to increase the membership subscription base both domestically and internationally through reducing churn and growing new subscriptions.
- Increase membership sales through 360 degree marketing plan including implementing cultural change to exploit opportunities offered through Supporter Services, CRM systems and Arsenal Broadband.
- Manage creative and content process for membership collateral with internal stakeholders and agency relationships.
- Determine, evolve and implement best-in-class year-round membership experience to relevantly engage supporters and drive incremental revenues in line with brand objectives in a way that is consistent with its heritage and vision.
- Implement general admissions tickets sales strategy to ensure capacity / sales ratio is maximised for all football and non-football events through Club and external campaigns. Drive awareness and usage by new ticketing systems including Ticket Exchange and Ticket Fast in order to maximize attendance as well as sales.
- Evolve the match-day experience in the General Admissions level through delivering match-day content and experiential benefits with the Communications Department and Delaware North, the Club’s caterers.
- Help develop and deliver Club partners’ customer proposition across all to membership base including financial services and travel.
Candidate Profile - Previous Experience
- Proven track record, at developing, implementing and measuring marketing activity to drive a brands revenue and equity
- Experience of working on strategic/joint marketing projects with internal stakeholders and across multi-platform
- Proven track record of implementing high performing marketing strategies
Personal Qualities
- Passionate about delivering revenue objectives, actively searches for business development opportunities, ambitious both personally and on behalf of the club
- Can demonstrate gravitas, professional and personal credibility and builds strong business relationships
- Excellent commercial acumen with a passion for delivering a high performance
- An excellent communicator both written and verbal, an accomplished presenter who can persuade and influence their audience with credible business content
- Intellectually strong, able to think strategically, yet understands operational detail
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Self-motivated with the ability to work well within a team
- Good organisational and prioritising skills
- A passion or empathy with sport/sports entertainment
Location
London. Some travel may be required.
