Business Development Analyst

The successful individual will join a new management team at Arsenal on an ambitious journey. Ivan Gazidis joined as Chief Executive Officer in January 2009 from his position as Deputy Commissioner for Major League Soccer in the USA. Ivan’s ambition is to turn Arsenal into one of the leading sporting organizations in the world and he has recently hired a number of senior executives.

As part of this development, Arsenal is seeking to appoint a Business Development Analyst reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer who will develop business strategies by providing and utilising market intelligence/research and strategic analysis.
The remit of this role will cover both the UK and International business development opportunities. The role will operate at a high level and be part of the senior commercial team. Once established the role is likely to contribute in other areas of the business too.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
- To provide research, insight, benchmarking, due diligence and analysis on strategic business development projects including but not limited to partnerships, retail, , CRM, ticketing, licensing, online/media, premium sales and property for key stakeholders.
- Undertake a strategic review of existing business ventures and make recommendations for brand and revenue optimisation.
- Develop sound business cases with the commercial team for new business enterprise. Providing financial, market and strategic analysis to support each business case or recommendation.
- Through strategic analysis identifying target partners to work with both domestically and internationally.
- Being a key part of the client facing partnership team on new partnership deals, developing and preparing propositions and actively engaging clients when required.
Skills, knowledge and qualifications required:
Technical
- Demonstrable experience of utilising strategic analytical skills, including market situation/trend analysis, economic & P&L modelling and forecasting , scenario planning, go to market / roll out plans and operational feasibility assessments
- Most likely to have come from a top tier strategy consulting firm.
- Proven track record of strategic develop and implementation planning, in a diverse commercial environment, ideally including; partnership development, retail, venue management, consumer brand development.
- Strong and credible presentational skills, having presented to all levels including board level.
- Strategic business development in an international arena.
Behavioural
- Analytical rigor, strategic thinker, business opportunity evaluator, and ability to deconstruct business problems
- Mastery of analytical tools and frameworks, including issue identification, project structuring, data gathering and research, enabling end-to-end problem-solving
- Ability to create viable and realistic business plans and practical launch strategies, outlining how a new proposition would best be taken to market and exploited by the club
- A creative, committed and resourceful team member who provides and is sought out for high-value strategic opinions and recommendation
- Knowledge of sports/entertainment industry issues and challenges – desirable but not essential
- Strong motivational and interpersonal skills and with the ability to mix easily, work effectively and establish relationships both internally and externally across all levels
- Excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to present his or her views in a precise and compelling manner, and the confidence and professionalism to represent the club with style and authority
