Sales Manager - FIBA
Salary: Excellent Package » Ref: JT4971 » Location: Geneva, Switzerland
FIBA is the world governing body for basketball, a sport that can count up to 450 million followers and can genuinely claim to be the “other global sport” after football. In 2001, FIBA took all its commercial rights in-house and started to build a strong Commercial Department covering events, TV, new media, sponsorship, licensing and branding.
Basketball is still growing and with an attractive image, famous icons in key markets and a global fanbase, FIBA are now looking to secure new Partners for the next commercial cycle (2011-2014). This newly-created role will be critical to these commercial developments and the successful candidate will be responsible for securing new Marketing Partners for a number of key properties.
This is a rare opportunity to work within a global federation and will be both a challenging and rewarding post at a significant time in the organisation’s development.
Responsibilities
The search for new Partners will involve working very closely with the FIBA Commercial Director; with specific tasks to include:
- Identifying both general sectors and specific companies to approach
- Researching the target companies and the key decision makers in those companies
- Improving existing FIBA sales tools which currently include presentations, brochures, reports, research and videos as well as developing creative new ones
- Setting up meetings with prospects
- Preparing for and delivering presentations and subsequent negotiations
- Developing FIBA properties which have not yet been marketed including Women’s and Youth Basketball and digital rights
Experience and skills required
- Strong track record of securing sales in sponsorship or a similar industry
- Determination, energy, passion and creativity
- Outstanding people, communications and sales skills
- Knowledge of basketball not necessary, but an affinity with the sport would be an advantage
- Fluent written and spoken English is essential, with fluency in other languages desirable
- Must be self motivated, able to work quickly but precisely, multi-task, and respond quickly to a variety of needs, sometimes under pressure and stress
